Upgrading from Version 3 to Version 4 - please read this first:

We hope you will enjoy a smooth transition from version 3 to 4, but to minimise any problems, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Take secure backups of all your Master Planner files, which may include planner data files (.mpf), saved toolbar files (.tlb) and your personal settings (mastplan.ini in your Windows system directory). Keep the backups in a secure location (removeable media, or a special directory on your hard drive, marked as read-only).
  2. Download and install Master Planner 4. By default, this will create a new directory, leaving your version 3 installation intact - it is recommended that you accept the default, which will allow you to revert to version 3 if you wish.
  3. If you have a registration key, you can enter it during installation (but note that Version 3 keys will not work - email us to request a temporary key). This will unlock all the features of Master Planner 4 (Standard version) and allow you to evaluate the program. If you decide to purchase, you will receive a permanent registration key.
  4. IMPORTANT! You can read all your existing planner files in Version 4, but when you save them they will no longer be readable in Version 3. Be sure to keep Version 3 and Version 4 files separate. Version 4 has an option to export in Version 3 format, but this should be used with caution.
  5. Version 4 will continue to use your personal preferences, such as colours and default settings, but they will be saved to the registry, so any changes you make will affect only Version 4.
  6. Please tell us about any problems you encounter. If the program has an unexpected error, a window will pop up allowing you to email us the error log. For any other problems or comments, email us at bugs@ross-software.co.uk. We appreciate all feedback.
